Folks,
Anybody having an issue with Windows 10 (Professional or Enterprise) virtual machine being able to update with the latest January 2018 patches? I installed the registry modification Microsoft required for my antivirus (Webroot Security Anywhere) to insure there would be no BSOD upon the January 2018 Meltdown security patch. However, during the update processin Windows 10, it stops and tells me the following:
Your device is at risk because it's out of date and missing important security and quality updates. Let's get you back on track so Windows can run more securely. Select this button to get going:
According to Microsoft, this is displayed as they feel the antivirus (Webroot, in this case) is not ready for the patch, even though Webroot indicates they are ready. I sent this email to Webroot as well and have not heard anything yet.
The other thought, and this is why I am writing this, is it possible that using a Windows 10 in a virtual versus the host machine is what is causing this issue with updating with the January 2018 patch? I am using Windows 7 (64 bit Professional) as the host machine in my case. Patch worked fine on that OS.
