That might be it then, I'm not sure if the thick client does the customization required. These are the steps I didn't see when I used HTML5 in 6.5 and the appliance didn't work.
Customize the deployment of the Skyline Collector. Customization includes creating a root password and entering static IP address information (optional).
- A root password is required. The password must be at least 8 characters long.
- To configure a dynamic IP address, leave all networking properties boxes empty. To configure a static IP address, enter the information specific to your network. The appliance must be able to resolve the hostnames for vCenter Server, Single Sign-On authentication, and any additional product endpoints (NSX Manager).
- Click Next after finishing customizing the template.
If you aren't seeing these screens during the deployment then you might need to get the client integration to work in your vSphere web client first, and then deploy again.
