I'm testing a WPF application that requires 3D rendering, it doesn't currently run on our ESXi virtual machines and some of our physical machines so I'm attempting to understand the requirements. I see that the Nvidia VIB and a supported graphics adapter are required for hardware rendering in ESXi. My question is, is that a requirement for 3D rendering altogether? I have 3D acceleration enabled on the virtual machines and verified 3D rendering is enabled via the Web console. The current Nvidia card is a Tier2, and vmtools lets the VM see a VMware SVGA 3D video card. I have yet to find a tool that will let me test the 3D rendering within the VM.
