You might want to try disabling virtualized VT-x: In the VM's Settings, on the Hardware tab, under Processors, uncheck Virtualize Intel VT-x/EPT or AMD-V/RVI. Windows 98 can't use VT-x anyway, so there would seem to be no benefit to virtualizing that CPU feature for that guest OS.
The VM also has Gather debugging information enabled in Settings under the Options tab, in Advanced. If you turned that on for troubleshooting this crash, thanks . You can turn it off again afterwards.
This shouldn't be happening either way... Maybe jmattson would want to look at this one.
