I see so workstation is not really designed for running virtual servers from a laptop in a production environment and is more for practice correct?
As for comparing a homemade practice network vs a real production network let me know if this comparision below is correct.
So lets start this way...... you are sitting at home and basically you find a computer with a lot of memory with a decent size hard drive. You download and Install ESXi on this machine create a server by installing 2008 Server and assign an ip to this virtual server. Then you can find a crossover cable instead of buying a switch and connect lets say a laptop to the new ESXi server you built and connect to the virtual 2008 server by either vsphere or by remote ip. Let me know if this is correct?
Now compared to going to work
When I am at work looking at an existing virtual network and log into vsphere i see virtual servers and virtual machines. Now keep in mind the work network uses zero clients instead of regular computers. So when you first log into vsphere you see few servers and a lot of virtual machines...
So is it safe to say that these zero client machines can connect to the virtual servers as long as there are enough virtual machines created on that ESXi server and how are the zero clients configured to connect to the virtual machines
