I think the scenario you mentioned should be covered in our testing. also I tried to upgrade the vmtools from 9.2.4 to our latested version on guest 12.04 LTS. after reboot guest to make the new tools effective , hgfs works fine as before.

could you reproduce again? if yes, please let us know the steps, then we could re-try.
