I re-downloaded all of the OS X installers from the App Store this morning. I downloaded 10.7 Lion, 10.8 Mountain Lion, 10.9 Mavericks, 10.10 Yosemite, and 10.11 El Capitan.
I was able to create a VMware Fusion virtual machine from all of them except 10.9 Mavericks. I re-downloaded the installer again on a different Mac. The file is "Install OS X Mavericks.app". I got the same error again. I ran "diff -r" on the two Mavericks installers, and they are identical except the "receipt" file, which is reasonable.
When you are installing OS X 10.9 Mavericks and reach the point where you choose the hard disk (typically "Macintosh HD") and click install, an error message appears:
"The additional components needed to install OS X can't be found"
I do not know if this is a problem with the newly downloaded installer from the App Store, or something else. Here are my questions:
1. Has anyone else replicated the same problem?
2. Does anyone have a suggestion for how to fix this issue?
